About the Translator

Born in Finland, Pentti Rautaharju was nearly 40 years a professor and a career scientist in heart research in Canada and the U.S. He holds several academic and other honorary awards, including honorary doctorates and the award of Commander, Order of Lyon’s Cross of Finland. After his retirement he has continued an active heart reserch program, and as a diversion, translated classic Finnish poetry contained in Diamonds from Finland I, II and III.
